Moss Mansion History

The Moss Mansion was built in 1903 by the famous architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh for Preston Boyd Moss and family. It’s a three-story mansion with 28 rooms and an attached basement made from red sandstone brought from Lake Superior. The family kept this mansion for over 80 years. The longest person to live here was her daughter. She stayed in that mansion after her parents’ death to preserve the mansion and later turn it into a museum. But at the age of 84 she died and the mansion was taken by the Billings Preservation Society and later turned into a museum and available for public as per the family’s request.
