Delaware Charter Bus Rentals

Coach buses, minibuses and shuttles for groups moving between Wilmington, Dover and the beaches, and out to Philadelphia, Baltimore, DC and New York.

Delaware is small enough that a group can breakfast in Wilmington and watch the sunset in Rehoboth, yet the drive between them crosses three counties, two toll systems and, on a July Saturday, one of the slowest stretches of Route 1 on the East Coast. BUSXOXO plans charter bus, minibus and shuttle trips around those realities, with a professional driver, a fixed quote and one person to call from booking to drop-off.

Planning group travel in a state that is only 96 miles long

Most people underestimate Delaware. On a map it looks like a single afternoon's drive, and in February it is. In July, with beach traffic, a wedding shuttle loop and a 4:00 pm check-in at a Rehoboth rental, the same miles behave very differently.

The state runs in one long line. New Castle County in the north is corporate and suburban, tied to Philadelphia and the I-95 corridor. Kent County in the middle holds Dover, the state government, Dover Air Force Base, Delaware State University and the Monster Mile. Sussex County in the south is farmland, poultry country and, along its Atlantic edge, the resort towns that fill up every summer weekend. A charter that works well in one county can be the wrong plan in another, which is why we quote Delaware trips by route and season rather than by a flat per-hour figure.

Delaware also sits in the middle of four major metros. Philadelphia is under an hour from Wilmington, Baltimore about an hour from Newark, Washington roughly two, and Midtown Manhattan about two and a half. That puts a large share of our Delaware bookings on interstate routes: school trips to the Liberty Bell, company outings to Camden Yards, church groups to Washington, and a steady flow of visitors coming the other way to shop tax-free at Christiana Mall or the Route 1 outlets.

We start every Delaware quote with four questions. How many people, honestly, including chaperones and staff? Where does the group board, and is that address reachable by a 45-foot coach? What time must the group arrive, not just depart? And does the day end on the same side of the state it started? The answers decide the vehicle, the number of billable hours and whether the driver needs a hotel room. If you are new to chartering, our guide on how to rent a charter bus walks through the same checklist in more detail, and what size charter bus do I need helps you match headcount to seats before you call.

The rest of this page is organized the way we plan: county by county first, then vehicles, prices, trip types, out-of-state day trips, the seasonal calendar and the rules that shape a legal, comfortable itinerary.

Delaware, county by county

Three counties, three different kinds of trip. Here is how we plan charters in each one: where groups usually board, what they book the bus for, and the local detail that most often changes the quote.

New Castle County

The corporate north, bordering Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.

WilmingtonNewarkNew CastleMiddletownBearHockessin

New Castle County is where most Delaware charters begin. Wilmington's banks, credit-card operations, law firms and chemical companies run a steady calendar of client events, off-site meetings and airport runs, and the University of Delaware in Newark adds game days, admissions visits, move-in weekends and team travel. Because Philadelphia International Airport is so close, a large share of northern bookings are simple transfers: a conference group landing at PHL, a wedding party arriving from the West Coast, or a sales team heading to meetings along the I-95 corridor.

The county is also the gateway to the Brandywine Valley, which is one of the most rewarding day trips in the Mid-Atlantic for a group that likes gardens and history. Winterthur, Hagley and Nemours sit within a short drive of each other, the Delaware Art Museum is on the edge of the city, and Longwood Gardens is just over the Pennsylvania line in Kennett Square. Heading south, Delaware City is the jumping-off point for the seasonal ferry to Fort Delaware on Pea Patch Island, a favorite with fourth- and eighth-grade classes.

Where groups usually board

  • Wilmington Riverfront, near the Chase Center and Frawley Stadium
  • Wilmington's Joseph R. Biden Jr. rail station, for groups arriving on Amtrak
  • University of Delaware campus in Newark
  • Hotels along I-95 and Route 273 near Christiana
  • Church and school lots in Middletown and Bear

Trips we book most

Planner's note: several Brandywine estates have long, narrow drives and set motorcoach drop zones. Ask each venue where a 45-foot coach should stop and wait before you finalize the timeline, and budget 10 to 15 minutes per stop for unloading a full bus.

Kent County

The capital, the base and the Monster Mile.

DoverSmyrnaCamdenHarringtonFredericaMilford

Kent County is quieter than the north for most of the year and then very busy for a few specific weeks. Dover hosts Legislative Hall and the First State Heritage Park, which makes it the default destination for Delaware civics field trips. Delaware State University brings homecoming crowds, athletic travel and family weekends. Dover Air Force Base generates its own traffic of reunions, ceremonies and visiting units, and the Air Mobility Command Museum is a strong stop for scout troops and aviation clubs.

Then there is racing. Dover Motor Speedway, the one-mile concrete oval known as the Monster Mile, draws a large crowd for its NASCAR weekend, which returned to mid-May in 2026 and hosted the NASCAR All-Star Race that year. Fan clubs, corporate hospitality groups and tailgating friends book coaches months ahead. In late July the Delaware State Fair in Harrington does the same thing on a smaller scale, and weekend youth tournaments at the DE Turf Sports Complex in Frederica keep minibuses busy from spring to fall. Bally's Dover and Harrington Raceway and Casino round out a steady market for casino day trips.

Where groups usually board

  • Delaware State University campus
  • Hotels on US-13 and near Bally's Dover
  • Park-and-ride lots at Scarborough Road and Smyrna
  • School and church lots across Camden, Wyoming and Smyrna

Trips we book most

  • Civics field trips to Legislative Hall and nearby museums
  • Race-weekend fan and hospitality coaches
  • Team travel to DE Turf and university venues
  • Military reunions and government transport
  • Bombay Hook and Killens Pond nature trips

Planner's note: on race weekend, buses are directed to designated lots and roads around the speedway can move slowly for hours after the finish. Choose a pickup point your group can walk to, agree a firm departure time, and expect the return leg to take longer than the trip in. Access to Dover Air Force Base itself is controlled by the base, so groups need a sponsor and cleared passenger list before we can plan an on-base stop.

Sussex County

Beaches, the ferry, and the busiest summer roads in the state.

LewesRehoboth BeachDewey BeachBethany BeachFenwick IslandGeorgetownMiltonSeaford

Sussex is the largest county and, from May to September, the most in-demand. Rehoboth Beach has the boardwalk, restaurants and the Tanger Outlets on Route 1; Dewey Beach is the late-night town; Lewes is the historic harbor town at the mouth of Delaware Bay; and Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island are quieter family resorts close to the Maryland line. Cape Henlopen State Park and Delaware Seashore State Park frame the coast, and inland you will find Trap Pond, with its bald cypress swamp, and the brewery and small-town stops around Milton.

Our Sussex work falls into three groups. Summer weekends bring bachelor and bachelorette parties, family reunions and friend groups who want a party bus or minibus between rental houses and restaurants. Wedding season, from late spring to October, brings guest shuttles between Lewes and Rehoboth hotels and venues. And the off-season brings school groups, senior tours and events such as the Sea Witch Festival in Rehoboth in late October and Return Day in Georgetown, the post-election parade held two days after each general election. See our guides to the best beaches in Delaware and Trap Pond State Park for itinerary ideas.

Where groups usually board

  • Rental homes and hotels along Route 1
  • Lewes ferry terminal, for groups crossing from Cape May
  • Park-and-ride lots serving the resort towns
  • Wedding venues and inns in Lewes, Milton and Rehoboth

Trips we book most

  • Wedding guest shuttles
  • Bachelor, bachelorette and birthday nights out
  • Brewery, winery and outlet shopping tours
  • School and senior trips to state parks and museums
  • Crossings via the Cape May to Lewes ferry

Planner's note: downtown Rehoboth and Dewey have tight streets, heavy pedestrian traffic and local rules about where large buses may stop. For full-size coaches we plan curbside drops at the edge of town and a staging point for the wait. On summer Saturdays, allow 45 to 90 extra minutes on Route 1 south of Milford, and never schedule a beach return that has to meet a ferry or flight with less than an hour of buffer.

Which bus fits your Delaware group

The bar next to each vehicle shows its maximum seats against a 56-seat coach, so you can see the jump between sizes at a glance. Always size for your real headcount plus luggage, coolers or equipment, not the number on the invitation.

  1. Sprinter van

    Up to 14 passengers

Best in Delaware for: executive PHL transfers into Wilmington, winery and brewery tours around Milton and Lewes, and small wedding parties moving between photo spots. Easy to park almost anywhere, including downtown Rehoboth.

  2. 15-passenger van

    Up to 15 passengers

Best for: youth sports teams heading to DE Turf, family reunions and small church outings where budget matters more than headroom.

  3. 18 to 25 seat minibus

    18 to 25 passengers

Best for: bachelorette weekends in Rehoboth and Dewey, rehearsal-dinner shuttles, and corporate site visits around Newark and Christiana. Small enough for beach-town streets.

  4. 30 to 35 seat minicoach

    30 to 35 passengers

Best for: mid-size groups doing a full day, such as a Brandywine Valley museum circuit or a Dover civics trip, with room for coats and a lunch cooler.

  5. Shuttle bus

    20 to 40 passengers

Best for: loops. Wedding hotel-to-venue runs in Lewes, conference shuttles at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, and parking-lot-to-gate service at festivals.

  6. Party bus

    15 to 40 passengers

Best for: proms, milestone birthdays and nights out along the Rehoboth to Dewey strip. Perimeter seating, lighting and sound; not built for long highway runs.

  7. School bus

Up to 48 to 72, depending on age

Best for: short local field trips, camp transport and rustic-themed weddings. For anything over about an hour each way, most schools choose a coach for comfort and restrooms.

  8. Executive coach

    25 to 50 passengers

Best for: board meetings on the move, client roadshows between Wilmington, Philadelphia and New York, and VIP race-day hospitality at Dover.

  9. 50-passenger charter bus

    40 to 50 passengers

Best for: school band and athletic travel, church trips to Washington, and senior tours to Lancaster County.

  10. 55 to 56 seat motorcoach

    Up to 56 passengers

Best for: the long runs. Delaware to New York, DC or Atlantic City, full-class field trips, and big wedding guest transfers. Onboard restroom, under-floor luggage bays, reclining seats and usually Wi-Fi and power outlets. See the full-size charter bus page for specs.

Need step-free boarding? Wheelchair-lift coaches and ADA-accessible minibuses exist but are a smaller share of the fleet, so tell us about mobility needs, wheelchairs and scooters when you first ask for a quote. That gives us time to secure the right vehicle and plan a longer boarding window at each stop, which matters for senior groups heading to Winterthur or the beaches.

Unsure between two sizes? Our comparisons of minibus vs coach bus and charter bus vs Sprinter van cover the trade-offs, and the full lineup is on our vehicles page. Amenities vary by vehicle and date, so we confirm restrooms, Wi-Fi and accessibility features on your written quote.

What a Delaware charter costs, and why the number moves

These are typical ranges we see for Delaware trips. They are a planning guide, not a quote. Your price depends on the date, the hours the vehicle is committed to you, the miles, and whether the driver needs to stay overnight.

Six things that change a Delaware quote

Summer weekends at the beach
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Saturday demand in Sussex County is high and vehicles book out early. The same trip on a Tuesday in October is often noticeably cheaper.
Event weeks
Dover's May race weekend, Delaware State Fair week in late July, University of Delaware commencement and move-in, and prom season all tighten supply across the state.
Waiting versus dropping
If the bus drops you in Philadelphia at 10:00 and collects you at 18:00, you are usually paying for the whole day either way. Two separate one-way transfers can cost more than a single day hire because each carries its own minimum.
Deadhead miles
A coach may start its day outside Delaware. For trips that begin in southern Sussex, ask how far the vehicle travels empty to reach you, since that time is part of the day.
Tolls, bridges and parking
Routes can involve the I-95 toll in Newark, Route 1 tolls, the Delaware Memorial Bridge and paid venue or city parking. We list these on the quote rather than surprise you on the invoice.
Overnight trips
Multi-day tours or long days that break driver-hour limits need a hotel room for the driver, or a second driver. It is a line item worth planning for from the start.

How groups save: travel midweek, keep the pickup and drop-off in the same place, avoid split charters where one longer booking will do, and lock your date 60 to 90 days out for summer. Our guides on the cost to rent a charter bus for a day, how charter bus pricing works and round-trip vs one-way rentals go deeper. For smaller groups, see how much it costs to rent a minibus.

Groups we move around the First State

Every trip type below has its own rhythm. A wedding runs on a timeline measured in minutes, a field trip on a bell schedule, a race weekend on traffic control. We plan each one differently.

Corporate travel and client events in Wilmington

Delaware's corporate law and financial services sector means a lot of visiting executives, board meetings and client dinners in and around Wilmington. We run airport meet-and-greets from PHL, daily shuttles between hotels and offices during audits or trainings, and coaches for company outings to Phillies, Eagles or Orioles games. For multi-day conferences at the Chase Center on the Riverfront we build a loop schedule with fixed departure times, so attendees stop checking their phones for rides.

Corporate event charter buses

Weddings from the Brandywine to the beach

Northern weddings often use estate and garden venues; southern weddings lean toward Lewes inns, Rehoboth hotels and waterfront spaces. Either way, the job is the same: move guests from hotels to ceremony to reception and back, without anyone driving after the toasts. We time loops around the photographer's schedule and keep a final late run for the dance-floor crowd.

Wedding bus rental and our wedding shuttle vs charter bus guide

School and university trips

Delaware classes travel to Legislative Hall in Dover, the First State National Historical Park sites, Fort Delaware, Hagley and the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science, then further afield to Philadelphia and Washington. The University of Delaware and Delaware State University book coaches for athletics, band, debate and research field work.

School bus rental and field trip benefits

Sports teams and fan groups

Youth clubs heading to tournaments at DE Turf in Frederica, high-school teams crossing into Maryland and Pennsylvania for playoff games, college teams and booster clubs all need the same things: a firm departure, room for bags and gear, and a driver who knows where team buses unload. Fan groups add Dover race weekend, Blue Rocks games at Frawley Stadium, and big-league games in Philadelphia and Baltimore. We plan the return with post-game traffic in mind, not the scheduled final whistle.

Sports bus rental

Church and faith groups

Congregations across Delaware book coaches for retreats, youth conferences, mission trips and pilgrimages to Washington's National Shrine or Lancaster County. Many travel midweek, which helps the budget.

Church bus rental

Casino and entertainment trips

Delaware Park near Wilmington, Bally's Dover and Harrington Raceway draw regular groups, as does Atlantic City about 90 minutes away. We set a single return time and stick to it.

Casino bus rental

Concerts and festivals

Summer concerts, beer and wine festivals, Wilmington's riverfront events and big shows in Philadelphia or Camden work best with one bus, one meeting point and no designated driver.

Concert and festival buses

Airport and cruise transfers

PHL is the default for most Delaware groups, with BWI a close second for the southern half of the state and Salisbury's regional airport useful for lower Sussex. We also move groups to cruise terminals in Philadelphia-area ports, Baltimore and New York. Send flight numbers and a passenger list and we build pickup windows around real arrival times.

Airport charter bus and cruise port transfers

Private tours, reunions and government travel

Family reunions at the beach, alumni weekends, heritage tours of Delaware's colonial towns, and agency or military movements around Dover all fall into this group. Government trips often need manifests, specific pickup windows and discreet drivers, which we plan for from the first call.

Private bus rental and government transport

Day trips that start in Delaware

Delaware's location is its biggest advantage for group travel. Four neighboring states, Washington DC and four major cities are all inside a comfortable day on a coach. These are the routes our Delaware groups book most, with typical off-peak drive times.

Drive times are approximate, off-peak and for a coach. Rush hour, summer weekends, holidays and events can add significantly.

Out-of-state days are where the coach earns its keep. Instead of five or six cars paying separate tolls and hunting for parking in Philadelphia or Manhattan, the group rides together, the driver handles the city streets, and everyone gets off at the door. For school and church groups it also means a single headcount at every stop.

Crossing into New Jersey more often? Our New Jersey charter bus and Camden charter bus pages cover pickups on that side of the river. For longer tours that string several of these cities together, read our guide to multi-day and cross-country charters.

Three Delaware itineraries, timed the way we would run them

Real planning is in the minutes. These sample days show how we build a Delaware schedule around loading time, traffic and driver hours. Use them as a starting point, then send us your own version to price.

Fourth-grade civics day in Dover

52 students and chaperones, one 56-seat coach, from a Middletown school

  1. Coach on site for a walk-around and headcount. Bags stay on laps; lunches go under the floor.
  2. Depart via Route 1 south, the quicker road in the morning.
  3. Drop at Legislative Hall and the First State Heritage Park. Tours in two groups.
  4. Short hop for a picnic lunch at a nearby park, weather permitting.
  5. John Dickinson Plantation, about 15 minutes south of downtown Dover.
  6. Board, headcount, and depart before the afternoon school-bus surge.
  7. Back at school in time for dismissal.

Why it works: about 7 hours on the clock, inside a standard minimum, with no stop longer than a class can stay focused.

Saturday wedding in Lewes

110 guests across two Rehoboth hotels, two 30-seat minicoaches plus one shuttle bus

  1. All three vehicles staged. Hotel lobbies get a printed shuttle card.
  2. First departures from both hotels, via back roads to avoid Route 1 beach traffic.
  3. Second loop collects late guests and the wedding party's families.
  4. Ceremony. Vehicles wait at the venue's staging area, not the front drive.
  5. First return run for families with children and older guests.
  6. Second return run.
  7. Final run for the dance floor, with one vehicle held for stragglers.

Why it works: smaller vehicles fit Lewes streets, and staggered returns mean no one waits more than 15 minutes.

Broadway matinee from Wilmington

48 members of a community group, one 56-seat coach, Wednesday trip

  1. Driver on duty for pre-trip inspection.
  2. Depart Wilmington via I-95 and the New Jersey Turnpike.
  3. Drop in Midtown. The coach moves to legal bus parking while the group has lunch.
  4. Matinee.
  5. Pickup at an agreed corner two blocks from the theater.
  6. Comfort stop on the Turnpike.
  7. Back in Wilmington. About 13 to 14 hours on duty: legal, but with little room to add a dinner stop.

Why it works: a midweek matinee keeps the day inside the 15-hour rule. An evening show would need a second driver or an overnight stay.

Timings are illustrative and change with season, traffic and venue rules. For more ideas, see our guides to things to do in Delaware, wedding transportation ideas and the Broadway theater district.

A year of Delaware group travel

Demand for buses in Delaware follows the school calendar, the beach season and a handful of big events. The bar under each month shows how early we suggest booking.

  1. January

Corporate kick-offs in Wilmington, indoor sports tournaments, winter church retreats.

  2. February

College visit trips, Presidents' Day weekend getaways, museum days.

  3. March

Spring break travel, early field trips, DC cherry blossom season starts.

  4. April

Field trip peak begins, first proms, spring sports playoffs.

  5. May

NASCAR weekend in Dover, proms, graduations, end-of-year school trips.

  6. June

Wedding season, beach season opens, camps and graduation parties.

  7. July

Fourth of July, Delaware State Fair in Harrington, packed beach weekends.

  8. August

Beach reunions, University of Delaware move-in, late-summer weddings.

  9. September

College football, Labor Day, the start of the best wedding weather.

  10. October

Peak fall weddings, homecomings, Sea Witch Festival in Rehoboth, foliage tours.

  11. November

Return Day in Georgetown in election years, Thanksgiving travel, holiday shopping trips.

  12. December

Office holiday parties, Brandywine holiday tours, New York and Longwood light trips.

The quiet months are the best value in Delaware. From November to March the beach towns are calm, vehicles are easier to secure at short notice, and routes that crawl in July run on time. Lewes and Rehoboth are pleasant for off-season shopping and dining trips, the Brandywine estates put on holiday programs, and tax-free shopping at Christiana Mall or the Route 1 outlets keeps group tours busy through December. If your dates are flexible, moving a trip from a summer Saturday to a spring or fall weekday is often the single biggest saving available.

Traveling over the holidays? Our guide to charter bus rental for holiday travel covers timing, luggage and weather planning. For current Delaware events and festival dates, check Visit Delaware before you lock in a date.

Rules of the road for Delaware group trips

A good itinerary is a legal one. These federal rules and local realities shape every Delaware charter we quote, and knowing them early saves you from last-minute changes.

10 hoursMaximum driving time for a bus driver after 8 consecutive hours off duty.
15 hoursAfter 15 hours on duty, including waiting time, the driver may not drive again until rested.
60 / 70Weekly on-duty limits over 7 or 8 days, which matter on multi-day tours.

Source: FMCSA summary of hours-of-service regulations for passenger-carrying vehicles.

Long days need a plan B

A Wilmington to New York Broadway trip with a dinner stop can pass the 15-hour on-duty limit once you count pre-trip checks and the drive home. The fixes are a second driver, an overnight stay, or trimming the day. We flag this on the quote so it is never a surprise on the night.

Beach towns have their own curb rules

Rehoboth, Dewey and Lewes manage heavy summer foot traffic and limited curb space. Large coaches typically drop at agreed points and stage elsewhere while they wait. Share your exact addresses early so we can confirm the best stop, and review our parking and pickup guidelines.

Route 1 in summer is not Route 1 in winter

The coastal highway between Milford and the beaches carries a surge of weekend traffic from Memorial Day to Labor Day, peaking on Friday evenings southbound and Sunday afternoons northbound. We schedule around those peaks and check DelDOT travel advisories on the day.

Tolls and bridges add up

Most trips north or east touch at least one toll: I-95 near Newark, the Route 1 toll plazas, or the Delaware Memorial Bridge into New Jersey. Coach rates are higher than car rates, so we include them on your quote as a clear line item.

The ferry needs its own timing

The Cape May to Lewes ferry crossing takes about 85 minutes and runs to a seasonal schedule. Some groups walk on while the coach drives around the bay to meet them; others book a separate vehicle on each side. Either way, we build at least an hour of slack around sailings.

Weather on the coast changes plans

Nor'easters in the cooler months and summer thunderstorms can close beach access and slow bridges. For outdoor events, agree a weather call time with us and know your cancellation terms, which are set out in our return and refund policy.

State parks and historic sites

Delaware's parks, including Cape Henlopen, Killens Pond and Trap Pond, have entrance fees and set areas for buses. Check current fees and group rules with Delaware State Parks. Several colonial sites belong to the First State National Historical Park, which is useful for planning school itineraries.

Food, drinks and conduct on board

Rules on food and alcohol differ by vehicle and operator, and alcohol is limited to adults 21 and over where it is allowed at all. Read can you eat and drink on a charter bus and our charter bus etiquette guide before a party or long-distance trip.

How booking a Delaware charter works

  1. Tell us the trip

Date, headcount, pickup and drop-off addresses, and the times that matter. Use the quote form or call us any time.

  2. Get a written quote

We match the vehicle to your group and route, and list hours, mileage, tolls and any driver lodging up front.

  3. Confirm and reserve

Approve the quote and pay the deposit to hold the vehicle. We send a confirmation with the full itinerary.

  4. Ride on the day

You receive driver details before the trip. The coach arrives early, and our support line stays open throughout.

Arriving on time matters to us and to the driver. Read how early to arrive for a charter bus trip, and if you are unsure about gratuities, see how much to tip a charter bus driver.

Checks worth doing before you sign any charter contract

Whoever you book with, these are the questions that separate a reliable operator from a risky one. We are happy to answer every one of them for your Delaware trip.

More on our standards on the Safety and Trust page, in are charter buses safe and in our tips for choosing a charter bus company.

  • Look up the carrier's USDOT number. Interstate passenger carriers must be registered, and anyone can check operating authority and inspection history on the FMCSA SAFER system.
  • Ask about insurance. Motorcoach operators carry high federal liability minimums. Schools and companies often need a certificate naming them as additional insured.
  • Confirm the vehicle, not just the category. Your quote should state seats, restroom, Wi-Fi, wheelchair lift if needed, and the vehicle's approximate age.
  • Get the full itinerary in writing. Pickup times, every stop, the return time, and what happens if the group runs late.
  • Understand the cancellation terms. Know the deposit, the cut-off dates and what happens in severe weather.
  • Have a contact for the day. A phone number that answers on a Saturday night matters more than any brochure. Ours is +1 (308) 304-6668, around the clock.

Delaware charter bus questions

The questions Delaware planners ask us most. For anything not covered here, see our general FAQ page or call +1 (308) 304-6668.

How much does it cost to rent a charter bus in Delaware?

Most Delaware charters fall between about $95 and $450 per hour depending on the vehicle, or roughly $850 to $3,500 for a full day. A 56-seat motorcoach typically runs $180 to $350 per hour. Summer weekends at the beaches, Dover race weekend and prom season sit at the top of those ranges. See our day-rate guide, then request a written quote for your exact route.

Is there a minimum number of hours for a Delaware bus rental?

Yes. Most local charters carry a minimum of about 4 to 6 hours, and some peak Saturdays carry longer minimums. Airport transfers and one-way trips are often quoted as a flat price instead. We state the minimum clearly on your quote.

How far ahead should we book for a beach weekend or Dover race weekend?

For Sussex County summer weekends, May race weekend, proms, graduations and October weddings, book 8 to 12 weeks ahead, and earlier for large coaches. Midweek trips and winter dates can often be arranged with 2 to 4 weeks of notice.

Can you pick up our group at Philadelphia International Airport?

Yes. PHL is the most common airport for Delaware groups, and we also serve BWI and regional airports. Send flight numbers and a passenger list so pickup windows are set around actual arrival times. Read can a charter bus pick you up at the airport for how airport pickups work.

Can a full-size charter bus get into Rehoboth Beach, Dewey or Lewes?

A 56-seat coach can reach all three towns on the main routes, but downtown streets are tight and curb space is limited in summer. We normally agree a drop point at the edge of the busy area and a staging spot for the wait. For house-to-house runs in the resort towns, a minibus or Sprinter van is often easier.

Do Delaware charter buses have restrooms?

Most 50 to 56 seat motorcoaches have an onboard restroom. Minibuses, shuttles, vans and school buses usually do not, so plan comfort stops on longer routes. Our guide do charter buses have bathrooms explains the differences.

Can we use the Cape May to Lewes ferry on a charter trip?

Yes, with planning. Groups commonly walk on as foot passengers while the coach drives around the bay to meet them, or book a separate vehicle on each side. The crossing takes about 85 minutes on a seasonal schedule, so we build at least an hour of buffer around each sailing.

Will we need a second driver for a long day trip from Delaware?

Sometimes. Federal rules limit a bus driver to 10 hours of driving and 15 hours on duty after 8 hours off. A long day such as Wilmington to New York for a show and back, or Sussex County to Washington with evening events, can exceed those limits. We tell you on the quote if a relief driver or overnight stay is required.

Do you provide school buses for Delaware field trips?

Yes. We arrange school buses for short local trips and motorcoaches for longer ones such as Philadelphia, Washington or Hershey. Many Delaware schools choose coaches for anything over about an hour each way because of the reclining seats, luggage space and restroom.

Is tipping the driver expected?

Gratuity is appreciated but usually not mandatory unless it is written into your contract. Many groups tip 10 to 20 percent of the charter cost, or a set amount per driver per day on multi-day trips. See how much to tip a charter bus driver.

Can we bring food or alcohol on board?

It depends on the vehicle and operator. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are usually fine on coaches. Alcohol is often prohibited on standard coaches and, where allowed on party buses, is limited to passengers 21 and over under the operator's rules. We confirm the policy for your vehicle in writing.

Which parts of Delaware do you serve?

All three counties: New Castle, Kent and Sussex, including Wilmington, Newark, New Castle, Middletown, Dover, Smyrna, Milford, Georgetown, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island and Seaford. We also run trips from Delaware into Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington DC and beyond.
