Sprinter Van
The nimble choice for ski crews, executive airport runs and small photo groups at Arches overlooks where lots fill early. Fits most resort drop-off lanes.
Ski bags ride inside or in a rear rack, so tell us the count.
Planned around the last mile
In Utah the hard part of a group trip is rarely the highway. It is the final stretch: a national park road that no longer admits full-size coaches, a canyon that closes for avalanche control, a hotel curb in Park City with room for one vehicle. BUSXOXO books charter buses, minibuses and Sprinter vans with professional drivers across the state, and we pick the vehicle by checking that last mile first. Compare the full fleet or see how we price a charter.
The short answer
Tell us your group size, dates, pickup points and every stop. For metro work along the Wasatch Front, such as Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo and Lehi, most groups book a minibus or a 56-seat coach by the hour. For ski days, Park City retreats and anything that leaves the I-15 corridor, the route decides the vehicle: canyon traction rules, resort curbs and national park size limits all come before seat count.
Planning-level pricing starts around $105 an hour for a Sprinter van and $145 an hour for a motorcoach, with minimum blocks of four to five hours. Multi-day park circuits are priced by the day plus the driver's hotel. Book three to six months ahead for summer park trips and ski-season weekends. See how renting a charter bus works if this is your first time.
How Utah fits together
Roughly three in four Utahns live along one urban strip at the foot of the Wasatch Range. Almost everything a visiting group wants to see sits hours away from it. That shape drives every charter decision in the state: short, dense metro runs on one side, long scenic transfers with few services on the other.
Wasatch Front
Ogden · SLC · Lehi · Provo
Conventions, campuses, arenas and the airport, all strung along I-15. Short hops, heavy rush-hour traffic, lots of hotel curbs. Read our Salt Lake City travel guide.
Wasatch Back
Park City · Heber · the Cottonwoods
Ski resorts, retreats and mountain weddings 7,000 feet up. Steep grades, winter traction rules and tight resort drop-off zones.
Color Country
St. George · Cedar City · Zion · Bryce
The southwest corner, closer to Las Vegas than to Salt Lake City. Read about Zion and Bryce Canyon.
Canyon Country
Moab · Canyonlands · Monument Valley
Red rock, long distances and few fuel stops. Start with our Arches guide and Monument Valley guide.
Three rules that shape every Utah quote
Fleet matcher
Seat count is only the first filter. Add where you're going and how much gear you're bringing, and the matcher highlights the vehicle we would quote first. Still unsure between two sizes? Read one charter bus or two minibuses.
Up to 14 riders
The nimble choice for ski crews, executive airport runs and small photo groups at Arches overlooks where lots fill early. Fits most resort drop-off lanes.
Ski bags ride inside or in a rear rack, so tell us the count.
15–18 riders
A wedding favorite for venues up Emigration, Millcreek and Provo canyons, where a full coach would struggle on narrow private lanes.
Limited luggage space, so it is best for day use.
25–35 riders
Our most-booked size for Park City conferences and Bryce Canyon day trips, big enough for a team and small enough for resort and hotel curbs.
Rear luggage area on most models, plus a restroom on some.
20–40 riders
Built for repeat loops: Salt Palace hotel circuits, Silicon Slopes office shuttles and stadium park-and-rides. Wheelchair lifts available on request.
Ask for an ADA lift at the time you request a quote.
40–50 riders
School bands, choirs and youth groups heading to Cedar City, Logan or St. George, with under-floor bays for instruments.
Restroom, Wi-Fi and outlets are common on modern coaches.
50–56 riders
The workhorse for multi-day Mighty 5 circuits and corporate moves. Note: it exceeds Zion's new Mt. Carmel highway limits, so we plan Zion around them.
The best price per seat on long days.
25–50 riders
Fewer, wider seats with lounge or table layouts for investor tours, board offsites and client roadshows between Lehi and Park City.
Configurations vary, so request a floor plan.
15–40 riders
Bachelorettes, proms and birthday nights in Salt Lake City and Provo. Utah's open-container rules are strict, so we confirm what's allowed on your exact vehicle.
Drivers never drink. All drinkers must be 21+.
Need student transport with a yellow bus? See school bus rental. Large group over 56? We coordinate multiple full-size coaches with one dispatcher.
What it costs
The table below uses the national planning ranges from our charter bus rental cost guide. Utah quotes land inside these ranges, but where inside depends on the date, the deadhead from the nearest garage, and whether a long park day needs a second driver. For the mechanics behind every line, read how charter bus pricing works.
| Vehicle | Per hour | Per day (10 h) | Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sprinter vanup to 14 riders | $105–$210 | $950–$1,800 | 4 hours |
| Minibus15–35 riders | $120–$250 | $1,100–$2,250 | 5 hours |
| Motorcoach36–56 riders | $145–$325 | $1,400–$3,000 | 5 hours |
Long one-way transfers may be priced at about $6.50–$8.00 per mile when mileage outweighs hours. Peak dates add roughly 10–20%. Tolls, parking and park commercial fees are passed through at cost. Driver gratuity is not included; 10–20% is customary. These are planning ranges, not quotes.
Sample · Arches day
40 riders · 56-seat coach
Moab hotels → Arches → Dead Horse Point → Moab
Excludes park fees and gratuity. Arches has no timed-entry reservation in 2026, but lots still fill early, so this plan enters before 8 a.m.
$600–$1,250
SLC airport → Park City hotels
30-seat minibus, 5-hour minimum covers a round trip with a flight-delay buffer.
$960–$2,000
Salt Palace conference loop
Shuttle bus on an 8-hour loop between downtown hotels and the convention center.
$725–$1,625
Salt Lake City → Provo game day
56-seat coach on a 5-hour block, enough for kickoff and the drive home.
$420–$840
Wedding guest shuttle
Sprinter van, 4 hours, hotel to canyon venue with two return runs.
$1,160–$2,600
Snowbird ski club day
Coach for 8 hours, Sandy park-and-ride to Little Cottonwood and back.
$5,600–$12,000
4-day Mighty 5 loop from SLC
Coach by the day. Three nights of driver lodging are extra, and the longest day may need a second driver.
Ski and wedding Saturdays carry peak premiums. A Thursday or Sunday can cost noticeably less.
Basing in Moab or Springdale avoids paying for 9-hour round trips from Salt Lake City.
Hold one vehicle for the day instead of booking separate one-ways. See round trip vs. one-way.
Two minibuses can beat one coach where curbs are tight. Read what size bus you need.
Summer park dates and ski holidays sell out. Rates rise as supply tightens.
Wasatch Front, zone by zone
Dispatchers think about the Wasatch Front in zones, not city names. A 25-mile trip on I-15 can take 30 minutes at noon and over an hour at 5:30 p.m., so we price and schedule each zone on its own terms. Planning a school group? Our field trip bus checklist covers what to send us.
Salt Palace Convention Center · Delta Center · Capitol Hill
Home to conventions, Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth games and the State Capitol. Wide street grid, but event nights choke the blocks around the arena. We stage the bus a short walk from the doors and give riders one fixed meeting corner.
Best fit: shuttle bus or coach
University of Utah · Rice-Eccles Stadium · Red Butte Garden
Campus tours, Utes game days and summer concerts at Red Butte. Hilly streets and tight campus loading zones favor minibuses. On game days we route around road closures and stage on a side street.
Best fit: 30-passenger minibus
SLC International · Great Salt Lake · Utah State Fairpark
Arrivals, crew moves and sunset trips to the lake shore. The airport has dedicated commercial pickup procedures, covered in the next section. Fairpark events in September bring heavy traffic.
Best fit: van or coach, by group size
Sandy · Mountain America Expo Center · America First Field
Expos, Real Salt Lake matches and ski park-and-rides at the mouths of Big and Little Cottonwood canyons. In winter this zone is where we hold buses while canyon roads reopen.
Best fit: coach with ski bays
Lehi · Thanksgiving Point · Provo · BYU · Orem
Tech campuses, investor visits, BYU events and the Utah Valley Convention Center. The Point of the Mountain stretch of I-15 is a known bottleneck, so we add buffer time. See our corporate charter service.
Best fit: executive coach or shuttle
Lagoon · Ogden's 25th Street · Weber State · Antelope Island
Youth group days at Lagoon, Ogden's historic downtown, and bison and shoreline views on Antelope Island via the causeway. Ogden is also the jumping-off point for Snowbasin and Powder Mountain.
Best fit: 50-passenger coach
Arrivals
SLC opened its new terminal in 2020, and it is known for long walks. From the far gates of Concourse B to baggage claim can take 15 minutes or more on foot. A charter that ignores that walk ends up waiting with the meter running while half the group is still on a moving walkway. Our airport charter service plans around it in five steps.
Not just the first arrival. We track each flight and set the pickup window around the last bags off the belt. For staggered arrivals, read group transfers across different flights.
Pick a single spot past baggage claim and share it in your group chat. Riders who wander to the rideshare lot cause most delays.
Commercial vehicles follow the airport's ground transportation rules and may wait in a holding area until called forward. Your driver comes to the curb when your group is assembled.
A trip lead with a passenger manifest speeds up loading. Skis and golf bags go under the floor on coaches.
Downtown is about 15 minutes away. Park City is about 45 minutes in good weather. In winter, we check I-80 conditions at Parleys before departure.
Ski country
Little Cottonwood Canyon, the road to Snowbird and Alta, is among the most avalanche-exposed highways in the country. Big Cottonwood serves Brighton and Solitude. Both run under UDOT's traction law in storms, and that law now has teeth. Here is how a ski charter day escalates as the weather changes, and what we do at each step. For gear questions, see charter bus luggage capacity.
Step 1 · Clear roads
Normal ski day
Morning departure from a hotel or a Sandy park-and-ride, drop at the resort's bus zone, and an afternoon pickup timed before the downhill rush.
Step 2 · Storm forecast
Traction law can start early
UDOT may now enforce the traction law up to 24 hours before a storm arrives. We confirm chains and tires the night before and may move departure earlier.
Step 3 · Law in effect
Checkpoints at the canyon mouth
Vehicles need proper traction equipment, and tires need at least 5/32" of tread. Heavy vehicles have their own chain requirements. Officers may turn back anything that doesn't comply.
Step 4 · Road closed
Avalanche control or interlodge
The road can close for avalanche mitigation, and resorts may hold guests indoors. We stage the bus in the valley and send updates until the road reopens.
Resort drop-offs and parking
Most Wasatch resorts now manage peak-day parking with paid reservations, and buses usually get separate drop-off zones away from car lots. We confirm the bus zone with the resort before the season, not the morning of the trip.
Live canyon status: UDOT Cottonwood Canyons.
Park City in brief
Park City is a 2002 Olympic host and is set to host events again when Salt Lake City–Utah stages the 2034 Winter Games. The Sundance Film Festival held its final Park City edition in January 2026 and moves to Boulder in 2027. If your group is following it, see our Colorado charter page.
The Mighty 5 ledger
Utah's five national parks look like one trip on a map. To a charter dispatcher they are five different rulebooks. Here is the 2026 status for each, with the base town we'd overnight in and an estimated drive from Salt Lake City. For the bigger picture, read charter buses for national park tours.

Arches guideCanyonlands
Colorado River guideCapitol Reef
Utah travel guidesParks charge commercial entry fees per vehicle based on seat count, and in 2026 some of the busiest parks added a surcharge for non-U.S. residents. We pass every park fee through at cost and list it on your quote. Always confirm current conditions on the official pages for Zion large vehicles, Bryce commercial tours and Arches trip planning. Drive times are estimates.
Zion & Bryce, rerouted
For decades, tour coaches paid for an escort through the 1930 Zion–Mt. Carmel Tunnel, and traffic stopped both ways while they passed. That system ended on June 7, 2026. Large vehicles are now barred from the whole highway section between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance, not just the tunnel. The famous drive from Zion to Bryce now takes a longer road for most groups. Here is how we plan around it. For quick ideas, see our Zion National Park guide.
Restriction in force
If your vehicle exceeds ANY of these, it may not use the Mt. Carmel highway
A standard 45-foot motorcoach is over the length, width and height limits. Some Sprinter vans and short minibuses fit, so ask us to check the exact model.

A coach-friendly Zion → Bryce day
Canyon country & Dixie
Some of the best group days in southern Utah happen outside national park boundaries. Pick a base below to see how we run it.
Moab sits five minutes from the Arches entrance and about half an hour from Canyonlands' Island in the Sky. Groups that base here for two or three nights pay for short park hops rather than nine-hour round trips from Salt Lake City. The coach handles hotel-to-trailhead runs, and outfitters handle the river trips and off-road tours that buses cannot do.
Summer heat matters. Midday temperatures often top 100°F, so we schedule hikes for early morning, plan indoor or river time at midday, and run sunset viewpoints in the evening. Read our Arches National Park guide before you choose dates.
Island in the Sky is the coach-friendly district of Canyonlands. Paved roads lead to Mesa Arch, Grand View Point and Green River Overlook, with drops of more than 1,000 feet to the White Rim below. Dead Horse Point State Park shares the same access road, so one morning covers both.
The Needles district is a separate, longer drive south of Moab and suits vans and minibuses better. We usually suggest it only for small groups with an extra day. Pair this tab with our Colorado River guide.
Highway 12 between Bryce Canyon and Torrey is one of the most dramatic roads in the West. It passes Escalante and the Hogback, a narrow ridge with steep drops on both sides near Boulder, then climbs over Boulder Mountain above 9,000 feet. Our coach drivers run it in daylight and in good weather only.
At the far end, Capitol Reef's Fruita district has orchards, a historic schoolhouse and Fremont petroglyphs along SR-24. Groups often stop at the Gifford Homestead for pie before heading north. Expect long gaps between fuel and restrooms, which is why an onboard restroom earns its keep on this route.
Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park straddles the Utah–Arizona line and is managed by the Navajo Nation, not the National Park Service. National park passes do not apply. Coaches park at the visitor center, and the unpaved 17-mile Valley Drive is best done on a Navajo-guided tour, which we help you book.
Clocks can be confusing here. The Navajo Nation observes daylight saving time, but the rest of Arizona does not, so set the pickup time in Utah time and say so in your group chat. Read our Monument Valley travel guide.
St. George is Utah's warm-weather city: golf in winter, Snow Canyon State Park's red and white dunes, and summer musicals at the outdoor Tuacahn Amphitheatre in nearby Ivins. It is also the most practical base for Zion now that coaches must avoid the Mt. Carmel highway, about 45 minutes from Springdale.
Many groups fly into Las Vegas instead of Salt Lake City because it's only about two hours away. We can run Las Vegas airport pickups straight to St. George. See our Nevada charter service and Las Vegas to Grand Canyon bus tour for combined trips.
Departures board
Use this board to sanity-check an itinerary before you ask for a quote. The bar shows how much of one driver's 10-hour daily driving limit a same-day round trip uses. Green leaves plenty of room for stops. Amber means a tight day. Red means you need an overnight or a second driver. For the rules behind it, see when a charter bus needs two drivers.

Who rides with us in Utah
Utah's group travel has its own character: huge families, big congregations, a booming tech corridor and a calendar packed with outdoor events. These are the trips we plan most, and what makes each one different here.
Lehi, Draper and Provo are home to a fast-growing tech cluster, and their events need transportation to match: recruiting days that tour three campuses, sales kickoffs at the Salt Palace, and leadership offsites in Park City or Midway. We run timed shuttle loops, executive coaches with work tables, and airport arrivals for out-of-town teams. Planning one? Our corporate retreat transportation checklist and conference shuttle schedule guide cover the details.
Corporate charters →Canyon venues, mountain lodges and temple weddings where only some guests attend the ceremony and everyone heads to the reception. A shuttle keeps both groups on schedule. See how many shuttles you need.
Wedding buses →Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth at the Delta Center, Real Salt Lake in Sandy, Utes at Rice-Eccles and the Cougars in Provo. Rice-Eccles also hosts the NHL Winter Classic on Dec. 31, 2026.
Sports charters →Youth conferences, pioneer trek reenactments, choir tours and temple trips across the state. Coaches with deep luggage bays carry camping gear for a whole youth group. Read the church retreat checklist.
Church buses →Field trips to the Natural History Museum of Utah, band trips to Cedar City, and campus visits to the U, BYU, Utah State and Southern Utah. Try our campus tour itinerary.
School buses →Summer shows at Red Butte Garden and the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley, the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, Tuacahn musicals near St. George and the Utah State Fair each September. One bus, one designated driver, no parking fees. See our concert pickup planning guide.
Festival transportation →Utah families run large, and reunions of 60 or more are common. A coach turns the Bear Lake weekend or the Mighty 5 loop into one shared trip instead of a 15-car convoy. Start with the family reunion bus planning guide.

Lead times we recommend
Utah's coach supply is concentrated in the Salt Lake Valley and St. George, so trips that need a coach far from either base sell out first. Lock in the vehicle early and fine-tune the itinerary later. Head counts can usually change within limits; see changing your passenger count.

Book it right
Most charter problems in Utah come from information the operator didn't have: a venue down a narrow lane, a group that grew by 12, a park day that ran long. These rules come from the trips that taught them to us. Our safety and trust standards apply to every booking.
01
Give us every address
Venue lanes up Utah's canyons can be too tight for a coach. A street address lets us check the turnaround.
02
Name the park days
Zion, Bryce and Arches each have different vehicle rules. We plan the vehicle and route around them.
03
Count the gear
Skis, instruments and a week of luggage change the vehicle choice. See band instrument transport.
04
Budget a weather buffer
From November to April, plan for chain-ups, canyon holds and slower passes. We plan the buffer in from the start.
05
Respect driver hours
Ten hours of driving and a 15-hour on-duty cap per shift are federal rules. Long park days need planning.
08
Clarify overtime
A late dinner or delayed flight can push past your block. Know the rate. See overtime charges.

Questions, answered
Planning rates start around $105–$210 per hour for a Sprinter van, $120–$250 for a minibus and $145–$325 for a 56-seat motorcoach, with 4–5 hour minimums. Full days run about $950–$3,000 depending on the vehicle. Multi-day national park tours are priced per day plus the driver's hotel. Your exact quote depends on date, route and deadhead from the nearest garage. See full pricing.
Partly. Since June 7, 2026, vehicles over 35'9" long, 7'10" wide, 11'4" tall or 50,000 lb may not use the Zion–Mt. Carmel highway between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance, which rules out standard motorcoaches. From about March to late November the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is shuttle-only, and commercial buses may drive only to Zion Lodge with a Lodge reservation. Most groups ride the free park shuttle while the coach waits outside the canyon. NPS large-vehicle page.
No timed-entry reservation is required at Arches in 2026, but rangers may divert vehicles when the park is congested, and popular trailhead lots fill early. Fiery Furnace permits and Devils Garden campground still require reservations. Commercial vehicles pay an entry fee based on seat count, which we pass through at cost.
Yes. Send every flight number and we time the pickup to the last arrival's bags. Commercial vehicles follow the airport's ground transportation rules, so the driver stages until your group is gathered at one agreed meeting point. Downtown Salt Lake City is about 15 minutes away and Park City about 45 minutes in good weather. Airport charters.
Yes, with winter planning. Big and Little Cottonwood canyons operate under UDOT's traction law in storms, which can now be enforced up to 24 hours before a storm and requires at least 5/32-inch tire tread. Roads can also close for avalanche control. We confirm equipment the night before and stage in the valley if the canyon closes.
Count skis and boards as well as people. A Sprinter van suits up to about 12 skiers with gear, a 30-passenger minibus fits resort drop-off zones better than a full coach, and a 56-seat coach has under-floor bays for a whole ski club. Tell us the gear count when you request a quote. Sizing guide.
For multi-day national park tours between May and October, book four to six months ahead. Ski club weekends and summer Saturday weddings need three to six months. Game days need about four to eight weeks, and simple off-peak airport transfers about two to three weeks.
Often, yes, for itineraries focused on southwestern Utah. Las Vegas is about 2.5–3 hours from Springdale versus about 4.5 hours from Salt Lake City, which can save a full charter day. We run Las Vegas pickups straight into Utah. Nevada charters.
Federal rules let a passenger-carrier driver drive up to 10 hours after 8 consecutive hours off duty, and not past the 15th hour on duty. A same-day round trip from Salt Lake City to Zion, Moab or Bryce usually exceeds that once stops are added, so we plan an overnight or a second driver. Two-driver guide.
Utah's open-container law includes a narrow passenger exception for certain for-hire vehicles, but it never applies to the driver, and every drinker must be 21 or older. Policies vary by vehicle and operator, so we confirm in writing what is allowed on your specific bus before the event. Party bus options.
Most modern 50–56 passenger coaches include a restroom, reclining seats, outlets and Wi-Fi, though cell coverage drops in remote canyon country. Minibuses and vans usually have no restroom. On routes like Highway 12, where services are far apart, we recommend a coach with a restroom. Do charter buses have bathrooms?
Yes. We arrange charters statewide, including Salt Lake City, West Valley, Ogden, Provo, Orem, Lehi, Sandy, Park City, Logan, St. George, Cedar City, Moab and the national park gateway towns, and we run cross-border trips to Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and Arizona. All locations.
Tell us the last mile. We'll handle the rest.
Share your dates, group size and every stop, and you'll get a Utah quote with the right vehicle, route notes for any park or canyon, and an itemized price. Read what other groups say on our testimonials page, or email booking@busxoxo.com.
